Reverse Polarity

Reverse polarity is a hidden and extremely dangerous electrical defect. We were recently called out to investigate a system where a double-pole main switch had been wired incorrectly—the neutral was connected to the live terminal, and the live was connected to the neutral.

This can create a severe electric shock hazard for anyone carrying out maintenance, changing lamps, or servicing the installation.

To resolve the hazard safely, we:

• Isolated the incoming supply and verified line voltage.

• Corrected the wiring by swapping the yellow (live) and black (neutral) conductors into their proper switch terminals.
